Days pass by happlily at the Yacht Port Cartagena. The tranquility of the port provides quality of life for those who are lucky enough to enjoy their stay here. Recently, Gillian, one of the British residents, found that several of her neighbours had never played petanque before and decided to arrange a championship. She saw that next to the offices of the port there was an ideal place to play this game. She asked for permission which was obviously granted and immediately got to work. ‘As many of us can not play petanque I thought it might be a good idea to meet, talk and have fun doing something different…’ says Gillian. Within only a few days almost everyone decided to join this championship and all participants were prepared to give their best in the difficult art of petanque. There were representatives of almost all of the boats moored at the Yacht Port. Everyone enjoyed a thrilling championship. Photographs show the success.. At the time of writing this review there is no record of the winners, but it seems that all of the participants won. There is already talk in the pontoons to institutionalize the championship and to organize it each year. Such is life here. For those who have not known of the existence of the Yacht Port: it is a marina located in the port of Cartagena, within ten minutes walk from the old-city, designed for boats between 12 and 140 meters in length. Both the management team as the residents are happy to participate in writing news like this.
